Last week at my Eco Forum with local Greenpeace members, I heard about a burned-out bin at Lancaster Skatepark that had been left needing replacement.
As the bin was unusable, the council has placed open bin bags on the railings which were collected frequently, but these were sadly attracting seagulls and other wildlife from next to the river Lune, making the skatepark a more hazardous and unwelcome space for young people to meet and skate.
I raised it with Lancaster City Council, and I’m really pleased that a new bin has now been installed.
Tackling the big national and global climate challenges of our time is a privilege, but sometimes it’s the smaller, practical improvements like this that help make our communities cleaner, safer and more accessible for everyone, and I’m so honoured to be able to make these positive changes.
