Free breakfast clubs are expanding this April!
In a few months, over 300,000 children will benefit as more than 500 new primary schools join the programme, including Ryelands Primary School here in Lancaster. This means more children starting the day ready to learn, and less pressure on parents during the morning rush!
Schools already taking part, including Grosvenor Park Primary School, have served over 7 million breakfasts, saving families up to £450 a year and giving parents valuable time back. Evidence shows breakfast clubs improve attendance, behaviour and attainment, helping children thrive.
I very much welcome this support from the government which puts money back in parents’ pockets, alongside expanded free school meals, 30 hours of free childcare, action on uniform costs, and investment to fix crumbling school buildings!
