Following the election last month, one of the first things I did a the new MP for Bilsborrow was contact Lancashire County Council about speeding through the village, asking for a pedestrian crossing to improve pedestrian safety.
Lancashire County Council have now responded, saying that whilst they agree with me that a controlled crossing would provide significant additional benefit, it is only their ambition to secure highway improvement funding through local housing development for this, saying “If supporting development is forthcoming as envisaged, the aspiration is that a crossing can be provided…”
I’m a little disappointed that road safety improvements from Lancashire County Council will only come with additional housing developments, but I will continue to liasie with residents and try to enhance the safety of crossing on this part of the A6.
