Residents of the Marsh area on Gerrard Street and Denmark Street have contacted me with their concerns about inaction on the collapsed wall which has meant the closure of their connecting road.
The collapsed wall and landslide of soil is understandably causing huge concern for residents, not only with access issues, but worries about the structural integrity of the rest of the high wall and gardens above them, as well as the properties.
I’ve written to Lancashire County Council today to try and get this sorted as soon as possible.

Update 16/01/2025 – Cat seeks update for Bishopdale Road resident safety
I have been contacted by residents on Bishopdale Road as sadly the collapsed wall has led to an increase in vermin and pests which they are unable to tackle, given the advice not to use or maintain their gardens, and so I have followed this up with Lancashire County Council to ask what progress is being made, along with asking for their regular updates.

I’ve continued to push the Council on this, and I’m really pleased to hear that they have secured capital funding for a permanent replacement to the wall on Denmark and Gerrard Street, but it’s really disappointing that this won’t be until 2027/28.
